Hats seem to be a favorite leave-behind item. So do license plates, police department patches, flowers, rocks, t-shirts, and of course, flags.

The Memorial is basically a section of link fencing that measures about 12 feet tall and maybe 50 feet long. It's held up by a couple of 2x4's in the back. Even the 2x4's have messages written on them.
